The Guardian Plates Viewer
Help Page
The Guardian Plates Viewer is an Internet Explorer hypertext application (.hta) that allows one to view and navigate through a full set of reduced copies of the Guardian Plates. The Guardian Plates are the masters of a complete set of scanned images of all the pages of a single copy of a 1955 First-Printing Urantia Book.
The Guardian Plates are perpetually maintained unchanged, and copies of them made publicly available, by the Guardian Plates Conservatorium.
When using the access controls (see illustration below):
Specify the front matter pre-pages by the pre-page numbers p1 through p66 and the book text pages by the page numbers 1 through 2097.
Alternately specify the front matter Pre-Papers by the Pre-Paper numbers p1 through p3 (Pre-Papers are divided into 5-page-long Pre-sections for convenience) and the book text Papers by the Paper Numbers 0 through 196, accompanied by the use of the conventional Section numbers.
All access except for the simple "prev-next" type is by means of the controls on the Access Bar, as follows (see illustration below):
PAGE LOCATOR - gives access to any of the pre-pages (p1-p66) of the front matter or the pages (1-2097) of the book text.
PAPER-SEC LOCATOR - gives access to any of the Pre-Paper (p1-p3)/Pre-Section combinations of the front matter and to any of the Paper (0-196)/Section combinations of the book text.
PAPER SELECTOR - gives the same access as the Paper/Sec Locator, but on a menu point-and-click basis, through means of a list of clickable links to the Papers.
PAPER EXPANDER/COMPRESSOR - Expands the Associated Paper Link in the Paper Selector to show clickable links to all the Sections in the Paper. Compresses the listing for the Paper to a single line when clicked again.
PART SELECTOR - Chooses the list of Paper/Section links with which to fill the Paper Selector.
PART EXPANDER - Simultaneously expands all the Paper Links in the Paper Selector to show clickable links to all the Sections in all the Papers.
PART COMPRESSOR - Simultaneously compresses all the Paper Links in the Paper Selector to hide the clickable links to all the Sections in all the Papers.
Once a specified location has been reached by using the controls on the Access Bar (see illustration above), the location can be fine tuned or browsed by means of prev/next paper controls and prev/next page controls on the Navigation Bar, with corresponding displays (see illustration below).
The corresponding scanned images of the actual individual 1955 first-printing pages, reached by means of the Access Bar and the Navigation Bar, appear in the Page Area (see illustration below).
